This results in new sustainable materials that have exceptional mechanical properties and can be used in lightweight construction. Fibers made from flax, hemp or jute are often used as reinforcing fibers, which are increasingly competing with the predominant synthetic fibers due to their high specific properties.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, bio-based fiber composites can be processed using conventional manufacturing processes. However, there are still some challenges to fully exploiting the potential of this fiber composite. Bio-composites are currently used in the automotive industry in particular, for example for interior fittings or body parts.
