Basic seminar “Recycling of composite structures”

7. October – 9:30 – 8. October – 14:30

€886.55 – €1065.05

Nowadays, fiber composites are used in a wide variety of applications
and, thanks to their lightweight construction potential, have become indispensable in many areas.
As various types of waste are generated along the process chain and ultimately at the end of the use phase and the
production of reinforcing fibers usually requires a lot of energy, recycling of this material group
is essential. Due to the structure of a composite material, in which carbon or glass fibers are firmly anchored in a
plastic matrix (thermoset or thermoplastic), recycling the material
is significantly more complex than with unreinforced plastics; in particular, separating the two components
and sensible and efficient further processing of the recycled fibers or matrix base materials poses particular challenges
.

Basic seminar “Bio-composites – sustainable fiber composites”

7. October – 10:00 – 8. October – 14:30

€450

In the production of biocomposites, a matrix material (plastic) is processed with fibers as a reinforcing material, whereby at least one component must be obtained from a renewable resource by definition. This results in new sustainable materials that have exceptional mechanical properties and can be used in lightweight construction. Fibers made from flax, hemp or jute are often used as reinforcing fibers, which are increasingly competing with the predominant synthetic fibers due to their high specific properties.

Basically, bio-based fiber composites can be processed using conventional manufacturing processes. However, there are still some challenges to fully exploiting the potential of this fiber composite. Bio-composites are currently used in the automotive industry in particular, for example for interior fittings or body parts. However, bio-based composites have also established themselves in the sporting goods industry or as a material for furniture.

NAPC 2027 | Call for Abstracts

Abstract submission for the North American Pultrusion Conference 2027 is open!

Back by popular demand after numerous sold-out events, the American Composites Manufacturers Association’s North American Pultrusion Conference (NAPC), in collaboration with the European Pultrusion Technology Association (EPTA) and World Pultrusion Conference (WPC), will bring together 200+ industry leaders, customers, OEMs, and suppliers from around the world for an unparalleled, three-day education and networking event in the heart of downtown Chicago.

The North American Pultrusion Conference educational program is designed to bring the most compelling information to senior industry leaders, decision-makers, production managers, engineers, and end-users, striking a balance between business- and technology-focused sessions. Presentations from all parts of the pultrusion supply chain, from raw materials to manufacturing and end-use applications are encouraged.

All submissions are reviewed by a team of industry representatives and should be education-focused; those deemed too commercial will not be selected. Preference will be given to applications submitted by ACMA Members and that provide case studies, though all are encouraged to apply.

Detailed information on topics and further requirements can be found here:

Pultrusion 4.0: practical digitalization in the industry using the example of pultrusion

Pultrusion 4.0: practical digitalization in the industry using the example of pultrusion

7. October – 10:00 – 8. October – 14:30

Pultrusion – an automated manufacturing process for fibre-reinforced plastics – benefits particularly from digitalization. Digital technologies can be used to make all process steps more efficient, from simulation and work preparation to system set-up and quality assurance.

  • In work preparation, digitalization enables more efficient production planning, for example through digital tools for assembly planning, material management and project coordination. This minimizes delays and optimizes the use of resources.
  • Simulation and FEM (finite element method) are indispensable in pultrusion for the virtual design and testing of components and processes. This allows design decisions to be validated at an early stage, material properties to be optimized and potential sources of error to be identified.
  • When setting up the systems, digital technology, such as augmented reality or a digital twin of the pultrusion system, helps to ensure the exact positioning of tools, fibers and textile guides. This enables significant increases in efficiency to be implemented in the process.

In the long term, digitalization in pultrusion increases process reliability, reduces waste and material consumption and improves flexibility when adapting to new requirements.

Flame Retardancy for Composite Applications 18–19 November 2026, Berlin

Fire safety requirements for composite applications are becoming increasingly demanding – especially in the fields of mobility and construction/infrastructure.

Against this backdrop, the third edition of the conference “Flame Retardancy for Composite Applications” will bring together experts from industry and research on 18–19 November 2026 in Berlin.

Over one and a half days, 16 speakers will present insights and practical perspectives across a broad range of topics, including:

➡️ Material and process development
➡️ Public transport
➡️ Sustainability and recycling
➡️ Construction and infrastructure
➡️ Mobility applications
➡️ Standardization and testing

In addition to the technical program, the conference offers excellent opportunities for professional exchange and networking with experts from across the composites and flame retardancy value chain.
